There's a reason we call our space 'crypto' and FC protocol demonstrates this perfectly.

Why I ❤️ Farcaster Protocol is that it is a high DAU use-case demonstrating the value of cryptographically signed data with sufficiently decentralized data availability OFFCHAIN!  We need more offchain crypto dev.   Rant 👇

Since 2017 feels like we've been trying to get everything onchain and scale chains to make it so we can.  I'm not opposed to all the great scaling experiments BUT for the love of god can we please stop trying to put everything onchain and attach a useless token scheme to it?!!  

Bitcoin showed the power of incentives to take the obscure cypherpunk crypto movement global 🙏 Ethereum stable-coins and DeFi have Larry Fink's attention and the future of finance is decentralized & tokenized 🙏.  BUT most use-cases don't need blockchains...P2P offchain signed and verifiable data is the frontier to be explored not another L2 or 2017 ICO throwbacks of  "<This> but with tokens!!" crap.  End rant.

If we think the future of DAOs uses Farcaster.  I notice that FC is moslty signed-offchain data. Should we keep referring to DAOs as 'onchain organizations' then?  I see value in the meme given last cycle's offchain garbage but can we start calling them 'crypto organizations'?

Not sure I follow. The messages in FC hubs are signed by private keys 🔑 that happen to be the same private keys you can use to onchain stuff but it is completely offchain.

Onchain signatures for offchain data is still onchain, no? 😁

I’ve always advocated for defining DAOs by their actually properties rather than by the technologies they use to achieve those properties, and this is a great reminder of why
