Vatican Embraces Web3: NFTs for Cultural Heritage

The Vatican Library plans to use non-transferable NFTs to reward Italian donors supporting its manuscript collections. Participants promoting the project on social media by July 16 will receive a "Silver NFT" for access to a unique set of high-resolution manuscript images. Donors will get a "Gold NFT" for full access. Future plans include exploring the library virtually through XR technology.

NTT DATA's substantial investment in Web3 includes plans for a crypto wallet launch by late 2024. The library hints at future virtual and augmented reality tours to preserve and promote its cultural heritage.
