How would a reputation system in a gift economy look like? Part of me thinks it would lead to a perversion of the system. Asked differently: in a system where money does not hold any power, what would status/reputation be?

Wouldn't it depend on what people need? Like if I was living on the street, I'd really appreciate it if someone taught me how to make soap, or if I owned a house, I'd appreciate advice from a neighbor who works in construction. I appreciate it when you share insights, because I try to support communities and your insights help me understand the *why* of what I'm experiencing, which improves my response-ability.

so reputation is dependent on the impact a person has on another's persons life. It isn't about the assets they hold or what they put out into the world.
