Ethereum community’s development accelerated during COVID as contributors could no longer travel and instead spent most of their time contributing. We need that energy back. The event culture and lifestyle deteriorates our ability to execute.

In 2025, we'll no longer have to defend the very concept of an L2. We've won that battle. Instead, as more competitors seek to grow their own L2 ecosystems, we'll have to defend the Ethereum L1 as being the best home for all L2s. Which it is - by far. It's not even close.

TAX REPORTING: CURRENT STATE OF PLAY I can tell TaxTwitter is confused. The rules are confusing and WatcherGuru is wrong (as usual). This thread summarizes the current state of play in 7 short posts. Post 7 provides the carefree option that I personally use.

H1-B reformists (esp those not going into race hate rants) have a point that bringing in indentured immigrant labor under exploitative visas may be unfair to natives competing for similar jobs i just think the billionaire industrialists ain’t gonna agree with you because they

Christmas is a good time for us all to remember that behind most social media accounts (the non-bots) are… people. A lot of people still treat social media like a video game; totally separate from reality where their words don’t matter. But they do. Kindness matters.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been diving into memecoins, correlating it to my past experience with my work at TikTok. Here’s what happened when I decided to make one myself.

I have to give Geoff his credit for this TGA. These shows are never perfect, but acknowledging the mass layoffs, giving devs more time to speak, improving security, and making some pretty big announcements led to a very good show IMO.

Celebrating that Virgil Griffith is being released tomorrow, after having served his 63-month term in a carceral space of American empire. While I am happy for Virgil and his loved ones, I am still disgusted by the country that imprisoned him.

The last 6-9 months have been very favorable market conditions for those who operate on the left curve. All the gains have been happening on the fringes and people who are just aping without thought are being rewarded.

In the future, the data source could be replaced with an onchain social registry that anyone can opt into themselves to link their socials to a wallet, using TEE-verified oauth. With a reserve vault smart contract layer on top of that, this could hold tokens sent to users that haven't signed up yet and then easily be claimed on signup.

Except Jon doesn’t think Ethereum sucks - he thinks it has a weakness that it needs to focus attention on, to improve its position in the market. Jon wants all ecosystems to be the best versions of themselves. And he has bags in all of them respectively.

Honestly, if you’re not in the ethereum trenches, you just wouldn’t get it. I mean, we literally have builders in the space who are moving away from ethereum and citing bankless hypocrisy as examples of “eth culture is broken.”

Since Btc hit 100k, I'll say something nice about Bitcoin The immune response of the Bitcoin community is strong. Yes, many folks on their side take it too far, there's a certain level of hysterical toxicity among some bitcoiners There's a happy medium somewhere between

The problem: Coinbase's regulatory moat is so big they have no real competition. The teams that can do compliance can't do product, and the teams that can do product can't do compliance.

Public blockchains like Ethereum promise to be the best global platform for finance and innovation. But the concentration of power in block building today threatens to compromise this vision and Ethereum’s censorship resistance and neutrality.

At Devcon, @adietrichs suggested that a good way to scale the L1 is to rapidly prioritize EIPs that lower gas prices for obviously overpriced opcodes. It's effectively a big gas limit increase. I'd be in favor of this as a late inclusion for Pectra. Vitalik wrote about this too.

Revm is the most popular EVM library in the ecosystem. It has seen huge adoption & is already used by multiple clients & chains such as reth, trin, optimism and by tooling e.g foundry, hardhat

Imagine the people that left crypto in 2022 due to getting burned from 20% stablecoin yields and memecoin rugpulls. And they come back today, ready to give the industry another shot, only to find the exact same thing 🤣

A lot of people tagging me bc Coinbase App just hit #1 but this indicator works for the #1 app in general, right now it's only the #1 app in finance. Big difference. You also get about 2 weeks that follow after it hits anyways While it so far over the last 7 years has had a 100%

This (appeal-pending) Dutch ruling applies near-limitless liability to software development. The reasoning could be applied to open source contributors *far beyond crypto or privacy/security*. Due process & technical understandings w/in judiciary are important to everyone.
