2) You’re vampire attacking your own community. You’re getting free shit because someone wants your community. And you’re giving it away to them, often for minimal long term upside for you.

3) Getting airdrops for your community does not create net new profits for you. Unless you keep part of the allocation, which you’ll eventually be criticized for.

4) There’s a zero sum game here because there are finite amounts of airdrops/giveaways etc. Because other people are doing the same strategy, you inevitably feel inclined to badmouth your competition and avoid collaborating with them, because they threaten your allocation.

5) On a long enough timeline, you will recommend (read: advertise to community) the wrong thing. It’s either a rug, or worse a scam that drains the wallets of your community. Was it worth all the good stuff you maybe have secured for them? Fuck no.

1) The fundamental tradeoff to start with is that you’re spending precious time borrowing value vs creating value. In other words, hustling for airdrops means you’re not building. You’re doing biz dev.

Good take, if connections to airdrop is a projects only delivery. Short term it helps but only in down time of whatever it is being created.
