remember when Naomi Osaka dropped out of the French Open in 2021 for mental health and everyone was like omg good for her good job and now Chappell Roan dropped out of some festival for mental health and everyone is like omg this is the job she signed up for how dare she ????? can someone explain

Different standards for athletes vs entertainers, I guess. People are more sympathetic to athletes needing to be in peak mental condition to perform, but mental health issues are often expected of artists since trauma often fuels a lot of their art to begin with and so they are expected to power through them for their performances.
