my old frames are half-dead on Warpcast with "couldn't be loaded" images, but appear 💯 fine on /recaster .

I fight linkrot / decay with every fibre of my hacker soul, going back to my early training in writing code for the International Space Station (it's still up there in space orbit), to making an archival tool my first Farcaster project, to SassyHash which was built difficult-ly in order to be able to survive any attack and live forever

this is why you don't kill a spec less than a year after you birth it.

Trust on building on FC has gone to 0 for many of us who simply don't have the time and bandwith to keep updating our little tools.]

Frames are dead, long live frames.

PS: The new stuff only has frames on name, its just mobile web apps just like telegram and worldcoin.

I think I felt the same way until I adjusted my perspective: building on FC right now is early adoption. It’s just part of the course when the network still isn’t figured out yet. I definitely wouldn’t build a startup around FC right now, but for the occasional hack and social experiment, I’m here for it.

This is how i feel too, it was initially App Frames, they should have went with just Apps, from there, and yet they -named- it frames and said -v1 frames- are probably, might, most likely will, get deprecated on 6 months.

That was just a sentence of death for anyone building on the old spec.

And why would one bother

I think there is something to be said regarding the naming of Frames v2

I understand that it’s the next version of building on warpcast, but it’s so different to frames v1 that it arguably doesn’t even warrant the name anymore

The naming in itself feels like a clear intent to kill the original frames spec which is unfortunate

I love frames v2 too, sorry if this wasn't clear, I just would have loved for the v1 spec to -live for ever- i understand why this is not feasible and its better for you guys to evolve this now (early) than later on, it just sux (from my personal POV/experience) but I can see how is the best for the protocl so i'll eat it and learn v2 😊

Frames v1 still work — if they don’t please share an example where it is broken.

i think if cast / composer actions, frames and v2 frames were all interoperable and could summon + interact w one another it'd be great
