A Bamileke carved wood throne chair decorated with the NDOP ethnic textile. Made in Bamileke (wester Cameroon) the throne chair was used by tribal chiefs or honored figures (Mkem) while presiding over official and religious services. The figures in the chair represent tribal ancestors, whose remembered wisdom is meant to direct those sitting on the throne.
