I believe the social layer of governance is the most harmful layer. I’m a huge advocate for private voting, also anonymous feedback…. Why? Because ANYTIME you leave feedback positive or negative you get DMs…. It’s making me just want to vote & not say anything, but I feel I owe it to the proposers to provide feedback, but also do not want to deal with the backlash of providing feedback. Dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t….. but Anon activities eliminate these issues, we should also reset the culture to not take voting against a proposal so personally. An against vote does not equal an I Hate You, it’s a rework and repurpose if it doesn’t pass. 🫡

Sometimes the builders have tunnel vision and not thought about what an alternative prop may look like. Comments like “too expensive” or “think of a different strategy that costs less and maybe not as ambitious” when the proposer may be a thought leader in their space and has a clear roadmap for successful execution and delivery tend to scare people away from building here in my opinion. how do We do this better?

Transparency is a core crypto value & we should stop being afraid of it. Let’s normalize not taking feedback personally. Hiding behind anonymous voting can also allow for deception “oh I voted yes on your prop of course!” while voting against etc Also — you don’t owe anyone anything. No one is entitled to your time or attention. It’s kind of you to engage but you don’t have to. You also don’t owe anyone an explanation of your vote. If you give one, great but it’s not required. And that sentiment should be normalized as well.

When my lo-fi noggles prop and my Nounish friends props got dragged and nuked in public a part of me died inside. We as a project and a community need to figure out how to treat the people we invite in to put props up and build here better if we expect any level of scaling and builder retention

I totally agree with you. I think that most voting should be tokenised / anonymised. There is no need to know who voted what. Is how we interpret them and the result that count. We can have discussions and brainstorming without being personally harassed in thinking differently. We also dont need politicians for the same reasons. In the modern era we can collect each one and everyones thoughts and do not need representation.

Getting useful feedback is incredibly important. DMs get crazy for sure if you have unique takes and many new people may not understand the culture of governance here. you havr some good and valuable takes and it may take a bit more work to change your mind. Anon no votes and non productive feedback drive builders away
