I think as more and more people become jaded with academia, they’ll come to relearn how great the ARPA model has been for building the shit we need small, flexible administration getting to the crux of the issue without the need to return an immediate monetary profit

Dyson besides vacuum cleaners and home appliances also do state-of-the-art agriculture and food production. System they have developed is really incredible. https://youtu.be/n0miKj4UOiA?si=7_r97dSsU6B_A1SH

re: suprematism and federal grants, I may post things later about these while I think a lot of people dread applying for grants, I think it’s actually quite fun! it’s like entrepreneur welfare lol

we’re talking about a methodology that already uses way less water and land, but has been struggling to compete with field agriculture because of high electricity and labor costs—but product differentiation potential is huge

I’m quite confident that recent gene editing techniques (different from GMOs, so easier path to commercialization) I’ve seen will yield moderate improvements to field agriculture, but the real winner will be controlled environment agriculture because plants can be completely designed with less need for resilience

What are five topics you can talk about for 30 minutes with zero prep? 1. The future of agriculture 2. The Suprematism art movement 3. Pokémon IV and EV training 4. How to keep a human alive in space 5. Getting money from federal grants

re: billionaires and $100M+ club—incoherent conversations, vision for company changes on a whim biggest thing is the very obviously fake pretense of respect and assumption that money can solve all problems

recently, my biggest regrets have been working on the wrong projects/projects with the wrong people still learning how to gracefully exit these traps, but some advice: - don’t work for billionaires - do a quick background check before starting big collaborations - vibes > prestige, always

language is so expressive but I think a lot of speakers/writers (myself included) don’t leverage its full magnanimity, its gravitas, its power to be so precise at capturing an idea in both content and feeling at a moment’s notice—I yearn for that kind of mastery

I remember seeing a tweet that was like “the notch on your pinky finger from holding your phone too much is transhumanism” can’t stop thinking about that one

it’s really cool that this app uses the verb “cast,” short for broadcast even before radio, the word “broadcast” was used to describe a quick method of sowing seeds, which is not too far from what this is hoping to grow this into something fruitful
