here’s a way to explain crypto to new people: a blockchain is basically a book that we all own and can write in when one person writes something, it will also show up in every one else’s book this means that if one book burns, the information is never lost finance is a great first usecase for this book, but as these books get more advanced (scale) you can start writing stories on them, and eventually put the entire internet on there. so imagine a truth machine that can never be silenced or shut down.

I like the book analogy. More approachable than saying “database.”

Can you really put the entire internet on it? And why does it cost money to write in the book?

there are many angles you can explain crypto to folks explained it today for a friend that you can get money to that crypto account instead of bank or cash while still not caring about its origin like with cash but being able to do anything you could with a bank but cheaper, globally, faster and no one can block you

Anything's fine as long as you don't start by talking about a chain of blocks.
