Almost 31 million ETH is staked (~25.7% of the total ETH supply). This is $90.8 billion worth of ETH which is larger than every other smart contract layer 1's market cap. ETH as an asset is in a league of its own.

In some ways this is what btc’s supply cap was attempting to be. Eth just did it with utility by incentivizing hardening of the network through participatory decentralization.
