If the victim refuses to comply, the hacker may sell the information to competitors, causing significant damage to their reputation. Grey hat hackers operate in a legal gray area. They may breach your systems without permission, not for financial gain but simply to prove that they can. While they often alert you to vulnerabilities, their actions remain illegal. On the other hand, white hat hackers—also known as ethical hackers—are the good guys. They only hack with permission, usually as part of cybersecurity assessments.
