⛏ The New York Supreme Court has rejected a request from the local Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to ban coal-fired power plant Greenidge Generation from mining, so Greenidge will continue to mine bitcoins. In October, Texas residents filed a class action complaint against mining company Marathon Digital over noise violations from ASIC miners. 🍿 The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that the U.S. Department of Justice is investigating cryptocurrency company Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, for possible violations of sanctions and anti-money laundering rules. According to the WSJ, the criminal investigation is being conducted by the Manhattan U.S. Attorney's Office to determine whether the USDT stablecoin was used by third parties to finance illegal activities such as drug trafficking, hacking, terrorism and sanctions circumvention.
