thus is the test of a true global society; if we were globalist as an entire species it wouldn't be 90% of our destiny but more like 10-20% right?

For that, I assume “true global society” would require a single, borderless world government with fair local representation, no pockets of corruption nor public or private market distortion, no within-group distinction of ethnicity / religion / nationality (the latter being completely abolished), a common native tongue, & actively enforced equal socioeconomic development everywhere (i.e. subsidies where needed to maintain equity); so that access to education, healthcare, and job opportunities was leveled out. Under that very narrow definition (the utopian nature of it notwithstanding), yes, I imagine the space aspect of the cosmic lottery (where you are born) would become of minor relevance The “time” (era) aspect would remain, of course, as life opportunities differ across generations / stages of mankind development Interesting thought experiment for sure. There is a niche cosmopolitan tribe of global citizens today whose professional mobility gives them opportunities beyond their place of origin

We’ve gone a long way, though, from a distant past of disconnected tribes who didn’t even know each other’s existence We’ve mapped all of land and a good chunk of the ocean, no airport in the world is more than 24 hours away, trade lanes are highly efficient, our economies are intertwined, a lingua franca has emerged by default… It’s an asymptotic path to that elusive utopia (and of course, attendant externalities like climate change and thermonuclear war might turbofuck us along the way), but every generation’s effort inches us closer to it
