Not enough interesting people. Most of the early accounts on here just aren’t very interesting people, at least to the broader world. Many of those accounts became enshrined here as tastemakers. Result is that cringe-y hustle-y, crypto-y people who aren’t interesting in the bigger world do well here in this small one. Which then repels many new people (interesting and not).

are you inviting your interesting friends who are not on the platform?

It's a neat and tidy theory but I don't buy it. The founders and early members of Fark, Reddit, Digg, Twitter, Facebook, etc. weren't particularly interesting either - or at least I've never seen anything suggesting they were. Rather, the platforms solved a need that people had.

i’m not sure this is true lol. people here are interesting locally and globally. content shared here is pretty good at a baseline — we just need more of it (and in more ways like NFT frames). the algo today prioritizes social network more than social media.

I definitely feel this, but I also think about the other social media platforms I use, and it isn't the people that keep me coming back. Reddit is people sharing links, Twitter is just people sharing news and links with added commentary. The comments definitely add to it, but Reddit comments aren't funny because they are interesting people. I have no idea who is behind the reddit account that made the comment. I don't think we need "interesting people" as much as we just need the users here to actually talk! Share a headline and add commentary, share memes, etc. Funnily enough the posts around this subject have been the most genuine engagement that has come up on my feed in a while.

'...at least to the broader world.' I'd say it's all because of different cultural understanding.

💯. Lens does a better job of fostering a diverse ecosystem of apps. Different apps are used by different communities. Warpcast is highly tech-savvy and algo clearly overvalues early accounts content and graphs, and obviously those accounts are mostly part of the same cultural group. My feed here is mostly about farcaster itself.

we can't go from 100-1000 crypto OGs (plus KOLs) to the masses w/o identifying, intentivising and amplifying the new taste makers first. pioneers -> early adopters -> mainstream I am an early adopter and have a large global network of people world-wide incl. very interesting people that would enrich this space 100%. They are not interested in crypto, but in making social media a better place and helping young people who want to be authentic and pursue their dreams to make a living income. I'll keep pondering on how to activate this.

So the OGs get a pass to be uninteresting while the new users never get a chance to succeed even if interesting? That is my opinion TBH and wish to help change that somehow. How?
