on today's Farcaster dev call @dwr.eth repeatedly stated that the #1 priority is to improve the quality of content on the network I think he's wrong. Let me tell you why. (disclosure: I told Dan i was going to write this. i hope it spurs some debate) the #1 most important priority is for Farcaster to become more onchain "quality content" already exists in other places and there's no reason or benefit for it to come to Farcaster unless there's some uniquely onchain elements that vastly improve it and tbh most of the content that gets lots of engagement on CT is polarizing debates that the FC community hates the world doesn't need another place to yap about the NBA; it does need better ways to wager, play fantasy games, get access to bts content the world doesn't need another place to yap about what you cooked; the world does need more ways for foodies to get rewarded for sharing great recipes the way to win is by using onchain to change the paradigm and lure people in with the benefits as they emerge

disagree. What farcaster needs is to help people willing to put in the effort to build communities on Farcaster win. This probably looks like these people putting in lots of time and work to manually curate/build/use tools around channels and in return earning $ now + converting users better + reaching more people, and the potential for $$$$ later when their community is worth something. This might look like frictionless subscription onramps to channels. Also potentially financial (give people the zora referral fees, tokens, manual algo boosts, ...) + status/distribution (rec follower algo)

put things onchain doesn't earn money nor solve a problem in itself, and making better gambling products won't get us there either. Need the right amount of short term financial rewards to keep people going, but mostly be aligned around long term value & enduring community building. Opportunists here for a quick up and down will leave to the next thing when thats more profitable. Money is liquid and can exit, status and relationships is less prone to being able to exit. Perhaps this is why we need farcaster points - an illiquid (non exitable) long term aligned incentive that has upside if farcaster grows - but I don't think a memecoin is it
