i agree w @fredwilson.eth who says “We cannot put this genie back in the bottle. We need to embrace it.” https://avc.mirror.xyz/xTOFwHQF-bF5e6kjVLRI7H7k41d0Sq_6FUar4toZm7M diving headlong into an open conversation about AI with students seems more educational for everyone than banning

I think there should be a refined version of chatGPT that can act as a tutor service for kids in school. Personally I treat chatGPT as a tutor for my classes and ask bunch of questions, and I have honestly learned and understood subjects so much better.

Have seen some schools ban it on devices. Kids won’t let school get in the way of education though, so think it’s time to rethink the curriculum

I say, let students use ChatGPT in most cases. Instructors should also set clear guidelines when it shouldn’t be used, like on exams, rough draft writing assignments (but OK on final drafts), forum discussions, etc.—teachers still need ways to see/evaluate where their students are in their learning/understanding.

They used to ban Google in schools. They will figure it out.

Can’t and shouldn’t be fought. Students need to interact and learn how to use new tools. Banning it is short sighted.

Or just what are your thoughts on the current education system? Same response to both Qs… outdated unfortunately. And the ones that try to innovate get shut down by the Ed. Bureau.

No. Kills thinking in the age of building logical thinking. ChatGPT can only help when you know something and hpw and what to ask.

We should embrace the tech and adapt curriculums to assume people will use it and even encourage use. Reminds me of Feed by M T Anderson. Premise is most people have a networked computer embedded in their brain. School is therefore about teaching kids to use this computer rather than traditional subjects.

Finally, the ability to tailor content to unique personalities, learning patterns, abilities and interests. Especially for the majority that don’t have access to private tuition.
