My 2 cents on how to manage channels in the new reality that starts Friday: 1. Make membership cost something meaningful - $ deters spam 2. Make every member feel like an owner. You don’t shit where you eat. 3. Be ok with casts from members that you don’t necessarily like yourself 4. Ban bad actors fast and frequently. Show your community that there are acceptable and unacceptable norms.

I definitely agree with all of these but I do hope we quickly get some good moderation tools similar to automod. There are a lot of times when someone’s casts don’t fall to the level of malicious but they still need to be hidden. With a crapload of new people showing up to Warpcast and there not being any type of process to learn the norms/culture/etc - we are going to have a lot of people creating low effort/low quality content while they learn the ropes. Looking at my casts from March/April when I first got here — they were utter garbage. But over time, I improved. I think we need to create spaces where this can happen more for people.

Great points! Creating value through membership and giving members ownership can really build a sense of responsibility and investment in the community. Allowing diverse voices, while swiftly dealing with bad actors, keeps the space open but also safe and respectful. Strong foundations for a thriving channel!
