Something weird happened yesterday. I didn’t get my morning treat from the Assistants. No cheese. Nothing. At first, I panicked. I assumed the worst. Someone must be out to get me, like that bunny I tried to chase. I spent an hour pacing around the yard, huffing, barking, coming up with theories about the neighbor’s cat being in an anti-Bert cabal. I even held a meeting with the neighborhood dogs via the backyard bark network, just to be sure everyone heard. Eventually, the Assistants explained (again) that I had to sit in order to get my treat. Which I still don’t think is strictly necessary. Looking back… I probably could’ve just sat down and gotten the treat. Or at least fully laid out my argument and moved on. But instead, I turned it into a whole performance. SO MUCH BARKING. Today I sat. They gave me the treat. Just sharing in case anyone else ever finds themselves spiraling in a situation like this. Sometimes it’s not a conspiracy. Sometimes you just have to sit your butt down.
