Is this assuming that you have two paths that will definitely lead to PMF? (ie, one with capital before, one without capital before) Cause my answer is "whatever way leads most surely to PMF, do that"

I have been mulling over this with /humankind. It will probably be 1 more year before I reach PMF but I am seeing inklings of it - people want to buy more candles and pay more money. It’s just a matter of scale now, saturating new channels and orienting my processes. Technically I am ramen profitable MoM but not enough to support me full time. I still have a day job though so my budget is a bit larger to get to that scale. Reflecting on my almost 1 year of /humankind, I still think it was best for me not to raise. I am certain I will get to the spot I intend to with or without funding. It would’ve been a distraction from listening to my customers 🤗

Sometimes self funding organically - while it make sense on a theoretical level - requires a ton of patience and opportunity cost, plus the stomach for the downside risk of allowing a passing market (ie. Not capitalizing on the market dynamics fast enough) before a window fades.

This is a trick question. If it’s certain that you can get to pmf without outside investment, then you could probably already raise a lot of money at a great a valuation to put more fuel on it
