If @dsiroker were on Farcaster, here would be my answer to him: (1) fear, (2) fear, (3) fear. I'm not a founder but I've worked closely with many over the years. You ARE a founder though, what's your take? https://x.com/dsiroker/status/1755622803343032760?s=46

because the vast majority of people want stability, and want someone else to take responsibility. plus I think a lot of people still don't know / think it is an option

The barrier to entry of entrepreneurship has moved drastically, especially profit models. As a first-time founder, 1-yr in, I did not know I’d be up against all of this. And that’s a good thing. But most don’t even know where to begin. I didn’t. Thankfully I was early to Farcaster.

I used to think I could never be a founder because I didn’t want to raise a billion dollar round or become the next Elon musk I recognized that this was wrong, that I should start now, and that I can become any kind of founder I want - VC funded or bootstrapped - b2b saas or candles 🤣

fear maybe, also security. people have obligations esp as they get older and can't always put in the resources to make it happen. it requires time, work, etc. and if you are responsible for others (kids, family, health etc) it can affect those things negatively in the short term. not a trade everyone is comfortable w

There is a gap in mindset you have to bridge between executing a given task and paving your own path. Have you ever read Arendt 'the human condition'? Quite enlightening in this respect. My god it's scary! but worth it

1. Not everyone has the drive to become an entrepreneur. 2. Freedom to do what you’re passionate about is risky as heck and most people are risk averse. 3. People are lazy; will rather take a steady paycheck and complain than go after their visions and dreams.

1) not knowing where rent or mortgage will come from next month is really hard 2) selling is hard but the most important skill - sell to investors, sell to customers, sell to family 3) there are mind boggling levels of tedium when resources are scare & it’s all on you; tax, hr, hosting, invoices, registration, law

Fear and self belief. Fear is number 1 for sure, everything else is downstream of it.

I would say fear and comfort go hand in hand in roadblocks to becoming an entrepreneur
