What stage of a conversation is ok for you to share/ask for a data room?

IMO without at least a soft commitment it's not a good idea to share any sensitive stuff.

It's normal to have a data room organized in multiple ‘tiers’ so you're not releasing all information at once.

I’d second this. 

As a founder it’s also good to have a next “action item” to keep the process pushing forward and understand who’s serious and who isn’t. 

So instead of sending it carte blanche or upon request, use it as a trigger for deeper engagement with serious investors
