Hypothetically, would you rather have:

1. AI is not delayed, but the strongest AI, 10 years ahead of everyone else, is in the hands of a single very powerful US government agency
2. All AI delayed by 10 years

1. although i don’t see it as a plausible outcome 

today: gpt4 is 1 year ahead to its closest competitor claude 

open-source models are at worst 2 years behind gpt4. the general trend is more towards reducing that gap.

+ it looks like gpt4 is has lot of business logic added on top that is not a  “raw” llm

would be nice to see opensource apis on top of open source llms
