A few conversations recently made me think of what pace layers look like for AI. Don't love this yet, but there's no faster way to right than being wrong on the internet.

When people ask me what I do, the best answer I've come up with is "I'm hired to care." Here's a short-ish riff on what that looks like and some of the traps advisors fall into — https://behzod.com/blog/being-hired-to-care

A long-ish riff on what it’s been like to be me-as-a-service: behzod.com/blog/me-as-a-service/ Towards the end, I share some questions I'm thinking about and would love feedback on.

I'm teaching a new course on "effective customer conversations" this fall: https://www.reforge.com/effective-customer-conversations/2023-10-23 As I'm refining the content, I'm curious: - Where do you feel like you struggle the most when talking to customers? - Where do you wish you had more competence or confidence?

While Threads is interesting as the first large-scale example of porting a social graph to a different "network," I feel like most of my enjoyment from new apps has been discovering new people. Glass, Retro, Farcaster, etc have all expanded my world rather than created redundancy.

Yeah this is where academia seems to disambiguate the research from the outcome. Empirically sound research != something that helps society move forward. Feels like the former is what gets evaluated while the latter is often squinted at.

To be fair, we’re in a wild enough timeline they could have won a Nobel prize for finding that encouraging bank collapses is vital as it is akin to “controlled burns” in the financial industry.

That’s a great point, since the qualifier for “loose” is audience dependent, and if we have similar awareness/understanding, you could say a la Yohji and I would know what you mean. But in another conversation that reference may be lost.

This means you end up venturing into the "how should this fit?" or "how did the designer intend this to fit?" versus "how is it being worn?" That said, certain aspects of the garment (width, length, seam placement) often indicate intent here, even if that's ignored.

I feel like fit descriptions are always in context to the wearer, which is different from the garment shape description or the wearer's body type. I.e. "loose" is about how it _fits_, but the same garment on two different people may not be loose given their bodies.

I'm curious is there are tools you've used that have significantly delayed (or still avoided) the tax stage?
