A decade ago I was eating sushi at a restaurant my partner and I frequented. The owner whom we became close with over time explained some of the metaphors associated with Sakura and WW2. Fascinating and very sad.

It is said that Sakura viewing was once a ritual for the Japanese people to pray for a good harvest🛐 The Sakura tree is considered to be the tree where the god of rice fields, and it is said that the amount of harvest was predicted by the way the blossoms bloomed🌸
