Example of how broken the legacy financial system is. I'm owed money from the 'gox settlement, and need to provide bank account info to receive the fiat. They require a SWIFT/BIC code, but my credit union doesn't have one. So I go try to open up another savings account at BofA. Nope, they send me a letter a few days later saying they can't open an account for me, but won't say why. Crap. Try again, this time with Chase. This one works! Unfortunately after several months of them trying & failing to send money to Chase, they give up and say I need to register a different account. Damn. So I go try to sign up for new savings accounts again. Three more prominent banks deny opening an account for me (my credit is perfect, mind you). Finally I succeed with Capital One... we'll see if I actually get payment though. What a pain in the ass.

I still don't get why Google Assistant is soooooo bad. Even for very simple things like "play [this radio station] on [this device]", where [this device] is a Google device like a Chromecast or Youtube TV. It will work for a week then the next week it's just like "f*ck you I'll do something random instead".

As we get closer to election day I notice more and more people revealing their presidential preferences. Here are mine. And to elaborate a bit, I do think objectively speaking that Trump and his movement are fascist. He really does tick every box. Those voting for him are clearly OK with that, and I find it disingenuous when they deny it. You may find his form of fascism better than the alternative candidate's positions -- I don't know why you would but people are going to disagree. But if you deny Trump has strongly fascist tendencies I'll struggle to take you seriously. I don't plan on debating politics much more here, it's mostly counter productive since those willing to debate have already dug in their heels. But figured I'd put my views out there before the big day. Regardless of your position, do get out there and vote, and if Trump does win, I hope those of you supporting him will still be willing to push back when he inevitably crosses the line towards establishing authoritarian rule.
