I'm planning to buy a new mac, at the moment I'm using an early 2014 mac book air.
My budgets is €1200/€1400.
Any advice? what would you recommend apple maxis?

I've got an M1 macbook air, I upgraded the ram and it's absolutely great for everything (and I do everything) from 3D to film-editing and music production, it's a bargain honestly. If you can get an M2 for the price why not. But I don't typically go refurbished on my main "driver" computer.

Laptop only? Or would you consider a Mac mini?

Considering the tight budget, probably a refurbished 13" MB Pro/Air with an M2 is a good fit. Try to get one with 16 GB of RAM. This device will be _lightyears_ ahead of any 2014 device.
