Why would you build on Farcaster — frames, actions, clients — if Merkle / Warpcast will just clone it if successful?

1. Outside of trading (Coinbase, Uniswap), there's no successful (at-scale, revenue generating) crypto-based business today.

2. The biggest constraint for all crypto app growth is users. There are not enough people using / "in" crypto today. The market needs to expand based on increasing the amount of consumer utility provided.

3. Our goal with Farcaster (and Warpcast) is to get enough scale where developers are able to build meaningful businesses without having to onboard more people to Farcaster and/or crypto themselves.

4. Separately, if your product is really a just a feature of another product, your best bet at building as a business around it is finding the Top 1% power users of said feature and giving them as many bells, whistles and knobs so they are willing to pay you.

5. We actively try to support other Farcaster apps in the ecosystem...

Dan is correct.
Products will be built on Farcaster.
I want to use it as the social login for crypto.
For both online *and* offline worlds.
Which is different from all pre-existing use cases of other networks.
Twitter login is closest, but it's nowhere near as open.

+1, to me Farcaster's biggest value prop outside the app is Social Graph as a Service

take a look at Camp - bridges web2 and web3 identity so apps/protocols have access to a users full digital behavior (ie Web3 music app seeing the precise songs someone streams on Spotify, combined w their onchain music activity, combined w Twitter behavior)

have you made some angel investments into projects on top of farcaster?

The third statement is what I love about fc “using fc as a social login for crypto”
I know that were so early because there’s so much more waiting to be built

spot on, the importance of ownership of identity both as a user and builder can't be overstated

How are the contracts that control the FC IDs governed? It was a 1 of 2 mulitsig but haven’t recently checked. 

Do you think, whatever the current gov setup is, it’s appropriate for the protocol? 

Is open & forkable ‘sufficient’ governance wise or should contracts be deployed as a Governanceless registry?

social login stablished can be a great success could be interesting to see a big mass adoption and also in a near future be linked with your validated wallets, so no need to add wallets in w3 sites as all would be done from your WC login, this would be great.

Absolutely agree. Farcaster's potential as a universal social login for both online and offline interactions is exciting. Its open nature sets it apart from other networks like Twitter, offering a unique and versatile solution

Indeed, I want a one-stop-shop to serve as my gateway to all things online, and even where they intersect with IRL. 
AND, I want to own my own data, identity, and control if, how, when, and where it is used.
Farcaster/Warpcast and apps built on top could become this.
