What happened to Dan was a travesty. It’s not always so severe irl. 

The prevailing wisdom is: No risk. No reward. If you stand out, you’re going to get noticed. Those that are noticed become targets.

Like Dan from our tribe said, what’s the point of this game if you don’t get to stand out safely (granted the context was different - but that’s pretty much my life motto)
