Will we see feed-algorithms-as-a-service (FAAAS) someday? Whereby any FC client allows the user to select their preferred algo from a list of open-source options published in a standard format to GitHub. Various algos would offer followers only, followers + their followers, language-specific, zero-censorship, OGs, etc

Could also unlock an economy of curated premium, subscription-based algos (like advanced adblock lists or spam filters today) that update in real time using ML to adapt

Would love to see more innovation on this front where users can choose from a few different algorithms. This could also be a premium feature that users might pay for

Users can switch search engines in Safari and Firefox but often stick with the default, leading Apple and Firefox to auction prime real estate to the highest bidder. Introducing an algorithm feed plugin may offer a new approach, but history might repeat itself.

Definitely think so. What I wonder is what the predominant business model will be, user-paid or incorporating some ads into those feeds?

no technical reason why we wouldn’t see this API providers like @neynar and @airstack.eth already offer many different feeds with different characteristics but I wonder how many users want this level of flexibility vs just expecting client developers to do user research and ship the best curated feeds
