To each their own. plenty of good people who used the job as a way to go on to accomplish good meaningful things. “Sell my soul” is histrionic imo

I’m in that boat. Been a management consultant for 23 years. It’s allowed me to work in dozens of countries and multiple industries. It’s exposed me to many colleagues and clients far smarter than me. It’s rarely dull. And, it’s lucrative past the initial grind. I don’t feel like I’ve sold my soul.

Also, I see that career choice as just another form of building. Not an app nor a startup, obviously, but a personal brand, which takes years of networking, delivering solid work, producing IP, mentoring juniors, and generally proving one’s credibility. The top consulting Partners have a strong brand built over years
