I know some people are skeptical of Google’s Willow announcement (the editorial insertion of a reference to the computation happening in parallel universes didn’t help). But I can’t shake the feeling that we’ve witnessed the Chat GPT moment of quantum computing

I actually really liked the multiverse point. Because this is exactly what it is. Hard to understand but this is just exactly it.

I love the announcement even though nowadays we have to take everything with two pinches of salt. I think what they have announce is really mind blowing and time will tell if this could be used, as they said in the blog post, in real world problems using real qbit algorithms. Really interested in this last part as what it means for coding solutions, i.e. the travel salesman problem. If we can harvest this computing power for these things not using brute force it would be beyond amazing. In my head the only way to actually build AI that actually thinks has been always tied to leave behind the silicon tablets for something new, and this might be the next frontier. Time will tell.
