I think one reason Farcaster feels so *nice* to use and be on is that it seems so… normal. Not much shitposting, heated arguments, etc. Just good vibes. Is there any way to keep this intact as Farcaster scales?

This has been an ongoing thought from some other pre-permissionless folk with hopes to keep the same vibes. I don't see it scaling, though. One idea has been to create a custom client that is gated by FID. I think this would be too exclusive and create this strange elitism that goes against the very vibes in question.

How about Reddit-style communities, governed by designated users (heck, throw a multisig on there and call it a DAO), which can have their own community guidelines and rules?

We have communities (channels), some of which are meant to replicate existing subreddits. But keep in mind that mod options are limited. Channel owners can only hide or boost casts, and that’s only within a given app; the underlying protocol (FC) is permissionless, so moderated content will show up in other apps.

So the vibe might end up being preserved in certain apps and not others; in fact there could even be apps that embrace shitposting, confrontation, and heated arguments, whereas others focus on maintaining decorum and a high SNR
