I’ve been quieter than usual lately, as I was über-busy conducting airport inspections over multiple days.
13K steps per day instead of sitting in front of a laptop broke not only my casting habits, but my fitness ones, too.
I’m sharing this as an excuse to say that I love airports. No, not the pitiful excuses like those found in the US or Europe. I’m talking about Asian airports, in all their chaotic neutral glory.
Airports are the epitome of liminal spaces (as this picture taken today illustrates perfectly). A place between places. A rendezvous spot to connect and also part ways. A bridge between cultures, codes, and norms; only with underpriced retail, overpriced food, and an endless spectacle outside the windows for aviation geeks.
Truly, what’s better than an airport? 20 replies
