We have a bonafide knot theorist among us @artofkot. Please give him a warm farcaster welcome, and ask any questions you’re curious about.

Welcome to Farcaster, @artofkot! Could you please help me prove that all the non-trivial zeroes of the zeta function lie on the critical line? Willing to pay $500K for an answer

On a less cheeky note, what is the most notable unresolved problem in knot theory today? And perhaps separately, what is it that you are focusing your research on?

Re open problem in knot theory: - define "unknotting number" u(K) as the number of times one has to push the knot thru its other parts in order to untie the knot. For example trefoil (K1 in the pic) has u=1. - Define connected sum of knots K1#K2 as in the attached pic. Open Q: prove u(K1#K2)=u(K1)+u(K2).
