Using a Windows laptop for work and a MacBook Pro at home, it continues to blow my mind how comparatively energy efficient and powerful Apple Silicon is. The battery of my MBP just won’t deplete. I never “have to” charge, I just do it overnight out of habit and could probably skip a night. The MBP is also much more silent and cool, even under serious workload. Having welcomed the switch from PowerPC to Intel Macs back in the day, I was skeptical five years ago of Apple manufacturing its own chips — and boy was I wrong. Best strategic decision of the last decade

I feel that all the people answering that PC can be great too just never used a M series MacBook... Can't blame them but once you're on the other side, there's no going back.

What hardware though? Intel chips are hot and inefficient at just about any level other than idle. AMDs newer chips run cool and quiet and sip power even under load. Also on PC, you have a lot of control over your power settings which can make a huge impact on battery longevity. Type “power and sleep” into search.

I have been considering doing this as well once the M4 MacBook Air drops. I wouldn't use the full power of the pro and think the Air will handle my needs quite well.
