..and so if resistance to attack, censorship and dilution (all derived from decentralisation) is the only real value prop of a blockchain, we should be seeking to preserve and enhance decentralisation wherever possible.

Less decentralized networks can be valuable. If you're storing low value NFT data, using 7 servers (Arbitrum Nova) is cheaper than global consensus (you trade off security) and less risky than relying on one. With a centralized server they can just decide one day to shut the division down and poof your NFT is gone

As Jason observed, less decentralized chains can still be valuable. But an important question is: why? If we better understood that question and its answer, then we'd be better at marketing our own high level of decentralization for having clarified its opportunity cost.
