I call this the taste of a spark — the sensation of neurons making a new connection and a new idea being born.

Do you keep track of them in any way?

I would encourage you to start tracking. I’ve recently gotten into the habit of creating atomic notes in Obsidian for interesting ideas and concepts that I come across. I realize just how many of those I would otherwise forget. Dumping them into such an exobrain of sorts has also been freeing — I feel less guilt about possibly forgetting and can engage more candidly with content. And, I can link the notes together which paves the way for some interesting emergence.

I would differentiate between small and big sparks, some discoveries are just interesting, you learn something new or connect existing knowledge, but the really big ideas, that really lead to a paradigm shifts are not often. 

I can't really track that, I would describe it a just lifelong learning, becoming more knowledgeable.

The really big ideas that change my thinking permanently are very rare, but they can keep me busy for weeks and months. (Sometimes years)
