I’m old enough to remember when they announced the same ban in 2000. It was a complete farce and the illegal trade carried on for years. This time they seem to have actually eradicated much of the crops. I hope it holds in the face of corruption and easy money.

This seems to be more for religious reasons, where as 2000 was to be seen as legitimate government, all though they do seem to be doing some of that here as well. It seems farmers are trying to grow wheat but it’s not profitable, wonder when the taliban starts legalizing and promoting hemp and cannabis
