thank you for sharing your comments!! much appreciated, and glad i’m not the only one with the ick. the issue here for me is that i think if crypto is increasingly associated with (what i consider to be) a fascist individual & his incoming party, it’s core values will absolutely be eradicated and we won’t have decentralisation but rather a constant pandering to Trump (authoritarianism). if that’s the case (and i really REALLY hope i’m wrong), what good does having crypto centre stage right now do for anybody?

I agree that pandering to either "side" is not a good outcome, our goal should be for crypto to be as neutral as possible and to benefit as many people as possible. that goal is in conflict with aligning ourselves with a particular political party.

imo it's worth pointing out that this pendulum swing is also the result of the dems having politicized crypto in the first place during the biden/harris admin. it didn't need to be this way.

although I find the trump coins a bad look that may cause reputational damage long-term, I think Eric's take sums it up nicely (see below). there will always be nonsense, but we can choose to work on what we believe can outcompete the nonsense. the early dotcom bubble was speculative, but that didn't negate the potential of the internet.

I joined crypto because I genuinely saw a potential major impact on the financial system. 

Here we are, president of the United States Of America launching his own memecoin. 

Genuinely questioning whether I want to be involved in any of this much longer.

Crypto is, and has always been, 99% nonsense grifty garbage/scams/jokes, and 1% fundamental global financial system revolution.

But this 99/1 is based just on quantity of projects.

Considered by market cap, it's more like 75% quality, 25% nonsense.…

totally agree! it's all about finding balance and staying neutral to make crypto accessible for everyone. let's focus on the bigger picture and not get caught up in the noise. 🚀
