why don’t people form small groups (3-5) around an interest, create a channel, and cast/reply to each other? 

it could:
1. amplify reach (shared audiences)  
2. create richer, more dynamic discussions (shared effort)
3. build deeper connections  

maybe it feels like extra work or it’s hard to find each other?

I think because this type of conversation/group works better in group chats.

Needs some privacy to create connections.

this doesn’t work without privacy, for me at least. The thing that makes this work is the connection, you have to start with that. Not the other way around.

Doesn’t have to be a group chat could also be a private channel.

the primary goal isn’t to create connections; that’s really hard to scale.

the primary goal is to better create a market that will amplify the topic of interest (easier to scale), from which connections will be created naturally.
