there's some confusion around farcaster names, so let me clear this up: 

- your username on farcaster is ALWAYS an ENS name
- one kind of ens name is the farcaster name (v.farcaster.eth shown in client as @v)  
- the other kind of ens name is the L1 name (dwr.eth shown in client as @dwr.eth)

Now if you tell me my farcaster id is really an ENS, I probably think you're Internet Explorer telling me your proprietary extensions are akshually web standards.

I can't realistically use my farcaster id for any of these three functions (yet, without stretching the meanings quite far):

- Your identity across web3
- one name for all your crypto addresses, and
- your decentralised website

Plus, it's not mine. It belongs to Warpcast and can be rugged at their discretion.

so is the point that because Farcaster ids are wrapped around ENS, other web3 spaces such as Paragraph benefit from ENS?

Intellectually, how would you distinguish this from a vampire attack on ENS? is it that Farcaster pays for the top level domain and registers each of the subdomains, exactly as ENS meant itself to be used?

“You identity across web3” -> Farcaster is one of those locations within web3 where I’m currently using it. 

I don’t get how that’s not fulfilling its promise to the extent I need it to be filled as a consumer. 

If not for Farcaster, I’d see my ENS name as a simple way to identify my wallet and nothing more 🤷‍♂️
