Why doesn't Etheruem have $0 gas fees?

The fees make sense but people coming from “free” web2 social networks don’t get it.  Even those who routinely using Base.  This is the #1 pain point when onboarding new users, once they get here they don’t care.  

For a while Coinbase provided free Warpcast signups, that’s why I joined and were sponsoring some new FID’s now for /cattown

The Coinbase Wallet quest retention was basically 0% (you're an exception).

Wow, that’s crazy.  I had been eyeing Warpcast for a few months but the $5 fee was keeping me away so figured why not try it for “free”.  Others are in that same boat right now but once they get here their mentality changes.  Happened with a few of the new FID’s we onboarded last week too.

I joined because of the cb wallet quest too, but I left and only came back because of people on twitter talking about degen
