I think there is less contradiction between these than it might seem. We need more "return to cypherpunk roots" on some axes (eg. L2s getting to stage 1, inclusion lists, light clients...) and more UX focus on some axes (most notably, making cross-L2 more seamless).

As of today it is not that simple for new people to join the ecosystem. It's expensive, risky (there's thousands of scams everyday), hard to understand. Only exchanges focused a big part of their time on UX and that's just because they want more profit about it. A newbie has a hard time in crypto, especially Ethereum.
