I know I’ve hit a nerve when people start calling me ma’am or little lady instead of doctor.

‘Little lady’?!? I def need a farcaster bot to collect my ‘only in America’ casts. My mum is the classic ‘so where do you come from’ to any drs who may not be from New Zealand. She thinks it’s a nice question, would never grasp how it’s not.

Hahaha. To be fair maybe it’s an “only in academia” kind of thing. I love the “where are you from” question in theory because I immigrated to the US from Canada and never assume anyone would live here willingly 😅. But I get how it might not be super well received.

I think it’s maybe just tiring answering it all the time. It’s prob well received when it comes from an old lady. Although I fear the day she asks someone who say ‘looks Indian’, they say NZ and she does the ‘but where are you originally from’?? 🙈
