This is what I noticed when I've seen China myself. Obviously it was just one visit, and otherwise only online interactions. But in my opinion, Western citizens today are more propagandized than Chinese citizens. I didn't know much about China 20 years ago, but I don't believe it was this bad in the West even after the Iraq invasion.

China places a strong emphasis on Chinese culture and civilization in its schools, and Chinese teachings and proverbs have a significant impact on their social outlook. Many people in the West believe that the Chinese people are unhappy with their government’s communism, but the vast majority actually support their government’s policies.
