i have reached the point in my craft where i need to work on removing ego from it 


i will always appreciate my ego but its time to rebrand internally

exactly, some clients want an artistic process and perspective and can pay for it in time and cost.

but most clients and most construction would probably benefit more from focus on designing and building better houses rather than more *designy* houses

to clarify, you mean the majority of architects have artistic pretensions?

In that case, imo architects should show more affinity to graphic designers, but the majority want to be artists.

Thx. Where I’ll draw the parallel to art / design is that graffiti is a fundamentally selfish point onto itself (like art), and ‘street art’ is about the underlying message that’s conveyed (like graphic design)

This ol’ debate is similar to how I think about how graffiti and street art differs: Street art is inquisitive. Graffiti is territorial

Yes, I remember this debate well from when I first started studying fashion design several years ago. 
Graphic design, too, could be seen as a profession shaped by the cultural industries, grounded in the concept of Theodor Adorno.

I don’t. Graphic design is intended to communicate a particular message. It’s a communication tool.
