as a collector here would be my advice for new artists (ofc i dont really know shit so beware and dyor): 
1. you picked an amazing profession but one that very few (i mean very few) can make a full time living doing idc if it nfts or what. it doesnt matter! your collectors/customers are picky assholes-deal with it! you also picked a profession where you are constantly being judged and critiqued so if you have thin skin that thicken it up. 
2. DONT follow TRENDS and be yourself and appreciate everyday that you are able to practice your craft. this will manifest in your art. 
3. DONT listen to advisors/nft consultants or shady ass curators. trust your gut and heart bc the art world can be shady asf! and very superficial asf as well. so thicken up skin!! 
4. learn a bit of art history and so you dont sound like an asshole when you have a debate with somebody. education goes a long way!
