We're launching a new experiment to help users avoid the spam label.

Should help people who are good faith trying to engage and adjust how they cast.

Reminder, if you're casting in your own home feed, channel or replying to people you who follow you, the spam model doesn't focus on that. 

It's only if you're excessively replying  to people who don't follow you (with no engagement).

I really try to understand what you guys are trying to build, still don't get it, the obsessive focus on moderation and silencing the new users is weird...

It's a system to get rid of new people...

New user join (doesn't know all the restrictions and non-written weird rules you have in place)

Gets forced to follow a bunch of your friends with huge followings.

He interacts in maybe silly or uninteresting ways with them and then GET SPAM LABELLED! and it's a bye bye.

Why don't you take a more friendly approach to new users? Also the spam label is PERMANENT?!?!?!?! So anyone who has an spam label now better just create a new account? 

Also, FARMING: Bro let people farm in peace!!! Teach your friends to use the mute button!

If you don't filter spam aggressively, people will stop using the app.

Bro no one here is going to stop using the app we are already here, what we need is new users, new consumers, I am not going to leave the app because a bunch of spammers reply to my casts and no one will, plus we can just mute the people we don't want to see! 

Make the rules clear, give some grace period to the new accounts, i don't what i see around, normal and not spammy users labelled as spam, is better to have 1000 spammers on the loose than 100 non spammers wrongly labeled, hurting users that likes to be here and not for farming at all is terrible!

Also farming has been a good thing for this place you should encourage farming and make it "safe" I'm pretty sure more than half of the users you see around that are active today came to farm degen...

The spam filtering dilemma

Sharing how we think about it so people can better understand:

1. Most people will only use social networks if they are fun

2. Casting something and getting dozens of spammy replies is not fun

3. If you get enough spammy replies, you'll just stop using the app

4. So, aggressively filtering for spam is necessary to keep your existing users happy

5. However, this means some good new users will hit spam filters. Understatement: this is a bad user experience for those people. It would be great to not have this happen.

6. But given the choice of who to make unhappy — an existing user who has invested a ton of time and energy into the network or a new user that is most likely to churn (top tier social networks lose 50% of users!), then you have to optimize for your existing users.

7. So does that mean you don’t care about new users? No! It’s existential to have new users be able to join Farcaster and find people to connect with — without being labeled as spam.

First of all i think is awesome to give the moderation to the users, specifically the channels! I applaud that and that would make this place better for everyone! Give it back to the states! I mean back to the users! 
Also having a group of people that can "vouch" for a user being legit is great too!

The autofollow can be changed too, make it more user friendly, get in there shitcasters and not programmers! 

Most people here think the place is fun, but i see a lot of people that are struggling with the spam label thing and is not fun for them, most people that i know left the platform because they were shadow banned, i believe the spam label is making a lot more to leave the platform.

Casting and receiving spam replies is not fun but not a reason to leave, spam does not bother me personally it bothers me more seeing my friends spam labeled, if i was spam labeled i would not be here, luckily i am not...
